We are searching for a Lead Rigger to supervise the day-to-day activities and operations of the rigging work group as well as the day to day activities related to the strategy. The Lead Rigger is responsible for the safety, quality, and budget of all assigned rigging work, as well as coordinating and scheduling all labor and equipment required for incoming rigging events. Schedule and coordinate the movement of all equipment and personnel required to facilitate the safe and successful set and strike of all events using rigging services within Encore hotels. Additional duties include:

  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment, and reports any and all findings to the Rigging Supervisor

  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties, and supervises and dispatches all work performed to ensure quality and safety; interprets company policies to workers

  • Suggests changes in working conditions, and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department, or crew

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems

  • Manages rigging crews throughout entire crew calls, and communicates job site concerns to the Rigging Supervisor, and Union Steward immediately

  • Maintains time and production records. Submits proper paperwork that is pertinent to billing, estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials

  • Designates the loading and unloading area with the best possible security

  • Works with Rigging Supervisor to prepare labor requirements for set. Prepares and/or reviews the equipment pull list

  • Sets up, braces, and rigs hoisting equipment, and splices rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle

  • Selects cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved

  • Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps, and attaches load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook

  • Provides directions to Overhead Crane Operator or Hoisting Engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled

  • Ensures that all equipment is returned, and broken or damaged equipment is tagged for repair

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of production/theatrical rigging experience

  • Prior experience in the audio visual and/or hospitality industry

  • ETCP Certification and CM-ET Maintenance Training Certification preferred.

  • Completion of an OSHA 10 Hour Outreach course

  • Demonstrated technical aptitude

  • Proven customer, client and coworker interface experience and abilities. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment

  • Must be able to plan ahead, prioritize, and adapt effectively to change

  • Proven organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Must have verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to effectively manage client expectations and labor budget

  • Skills in AutoCAD or equivalent program preferred

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Associates Degree or higher preferred
