SUMMARY

The Lab Manager is responsible for knowing and abiding by all policies and

procedures of Healthcare Partners – Laboratory. The duties include, but not

limited to both routine and moderate complexity testing. The applications,

principles, theories and techniques employed shall be approved by Healthcare Partners and the Laboratory Director. In addition, the Lab Manager is

responsible for assigned administrative tasks that may include teaching and/or supervision of others.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepare for and attend State and Accreditation Inspections

  • Maintain current licensure for CLIA waived and Moderate

  • Complexity Labs

  • Responsible for quality and continuous improvement within the job scope.

  • Responsible for all actions/responsibilities as described in

  • company controlled documentation for this position.

  • Contributes to and supports the corporation’s quality initiatives by planning, communicating, and encouraging team and individual contributions toward the corporation’s quality improvement

  • efforts.

  • Insure Laboratory is ready for daily service to our customer

  • (the Providers)

  • Check instrumentation for proper working order, to include,

  • performing daily calibration, quality control and troubleshooting as needed.

  • Inspect department for any unsafe condition that may defray or

  • interrupt normal laboratory service.

  • Perform daily Information System back up.

  • Insure Laboratory department is adequately manned.

  • Continuously maintain an open channel to clinics/labs for needed advice and support concerning laboratory issues.

  • Daily monitor and order supplies as needed.

  • Review daily approximately 125 laboratory requisitions before

  • beginning data entry of each request.

  • Remain available on site as he primary system analyst and

  • consultant for the laboratory information system in case there is a systems failure.

  • Address any safety issues that may arise in the clinic setting.

  • Initial all completed lab reports before they are routed to the

  • providers.

  • Monitor daily schedule of staff and make necessary changes to accommodate vacancies.

  • Counsels, disciplines, trains and instruct subordinates as needed.

  • Monitor laboratory courier scheduled route.

OTHER JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform secondary position as Safety Coordinator for RMC, to

  • include conducting safety meetings, consolidating safety minutes, providing safety reports and investigating incidents that involve safety issues.

  • Attend quarterly meetings to include Infection Control and TQM.

  • Commute to other RMC locations as needed for laboratory issues and or training issues.

  • Conduct the yearly OSHA / Blood borne Pathogen and Hazardous Communication Training for the organization.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSMust have 1 year experience and the equivalent of one year training as a laboratory scientist EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate of Science degree and Licensed by the State of Nevada

  • Skills to provide appropriate care and interventions related to the patient age and sex.
